Nelspruit lies in the hot lowveld valley of the Crocodile River. It's sub-tropical climate and soil is perfectly suited for citrus fruits, bananas, mangoes, pears, avocado, tobacco, coffee litchis, pawpaw and pecan nuts. The area produces about a third of the total of the fresh produce for the whole country.
Nelspruit itself is a fairly large city, but still a pleasant environment to live in, with rich areas of natural bush in abundance and lilac jacaranda and purple bougainvilla as well as other shrubs lining the roads.
It forms a rail and road link between Pretoria and Johannesburg to Maputo and to the Panorama Route and Kruger National Park.
